Hello all.. :D

I was looking to get some advice... Next year I plan on showing English.. i showed once in a fun show.. did really well but you didn't have to dress. Right now Im looking to buy a pair of boots and Breeches.. Have any suggestions?.. Im trying to find lower prices... One thing about the boots, is i have wide calves so some boots don't fit me.. any suggestions on where to buy online and what brands? I did find one pair of boots but Im a little shy of the price and quality.. Dublin Universal Tall Boots and Lined Rubber Riding Boots*|*EQUESTRIAN COLLECTIONS.COM

Thanks : )

For breeches, try Ovation, Trainer's Choice, Mountain horse, etc etc. Basically go to a tack store and try on as many pairs as possible. Keep in mind comfort and the fabric. We really don't want anything too sheer for obvious reasons.
As for the boots, I would really suggest getting some leather boots. Again, your local tack store will be able to help you out a lot more than the internet and you need to try on as many pairs as possible. For a starter boot I highly suggest Equi-comfort.

For breeches I have a pair of Tailored Sportsman (I got them on sale at our local tack shop) and I have a pair of Grand Prix breeches that I really love. I hate breeches that are too thin because they show a little much so I prefer the thicker material.

As for boots I have the same problem you do, I have small feet but my calves are all muscle (from riding and other sports) so finding boots that fit was fun. I suggest going to a store and trying a ton of boots on before committing to buy. A lot of prices allow you to return boots if you buy them, but they'll charge you a restocking fee if you return them. That can add up fast if you are hard to fit. And there are a lot of places that do not allow you to return which is even more costly. I found the size/brand that I needed and then searched online and found them $70 cheaper on eBay. I have the Ariat Challenge Field boot with the zipper. Most everyone at my barn rides in Ariat or custom boots so I can't speak to other brands but Ariat is great. I agree with the other poster and spring for the leather.

I have TuffRider breeches; they are very comfy & nice! :D Not too expensive, either. For my boots, I have Devon Aire field boots, in a size 9. My calves are big as well (legs aren't big, but my calves are muscular like yours), so yeah- I did the same thing. I went into the store & got the perfect fit! :)

i agree that going to a tack store is your best bet for boots.

I had wanted tall leather boots and placed and order online (thinking I would be fine with the boots). Fortunately, the order didn't go through, so when my birthday came along, my mom brought me to a tack store to get some boots.

Turned out the boots I had wanted, didn't fit me right and I wound up getting a totally different boot. I have the Ariat heritage II field boots. I love them to death!

For breeches I have a pair of the devon air hipsters. They are extremely comfy too!

i have those Devon air breeches for schooling, they are ok. They are pull on just as an fyi .. i prefer ones with a zipper and a snap... look on dover.com and statelinetack.com and horselovers.com ... also try ebay ... good luck!

P.S. I have done the whole cheap and expensive boot thing, if you can save a little more try and get a nicer pair of tall boots ... its totally worth it :)
