cavallo boots at shows?

I am thinking about getting my horse cavallo boots because he tends to get ouchy on rocky terrain and in one section of the arena that is a little more rocky. He is perfectly fine out in the pasture and in the more sandy part of the arena where fewer rocks have been pushed up. He's also okay in the areas where we can stick to the grass and the corn fields, but to get from one corn field to the next requires walking on roads or rocky areas.

So, I don't really see the need to shoe him and am not a huge fan of metal shoes anyway. My question is, would it be acceptable to ride him in these boots in a show? Or would we be laughed out of the arena? I will be doing dressage (training level) and hopefully hit up a couple of beginner novice events towards the end of the year.

I agree that you are not going to be able to use them in the show ring.

There is nothing wrong with putting shoes on for the short time that you will be showing (figuring if you are only doing a couple of shows at the end of the year it will only be a couple trim cycles).
