Country Show

How much does it cost for a country show?

What would you need?

How much is it to lease the horse for the show?

How much would extras be?

This show will be at the stables I am at currently. So I would not need to trailer.

Thanks ;)

Completely depends on how much the show charges for entry fees.
Leasing costs depend on how much the barn charges.
Extras depend on what you mean by extras.

Sorry I'm so vague... but it will completely depend on your situation. I did a schooling dressage show and paid like, $25. I did a schooling hunter/jumper show and paid like $250. Our barn charges $35 a day to take a school horse to a show. The best way to get the answers to this would be to ask your trainer.

In general!

How much would you pay for:
Show coat
Tall Boots
Breeches
Horse

And anything else, like an average.

Again, pretty big ranges in prices. I think I've seen show coats start off around $60 or so and go up to around $400 for nicer quality coats. Add in a few more hundred for custom coats. For clothing I'm a big fan of ebay. I got a brand new Essex show shirt (originally $120) for $20! And a brand new Ariat hunt coat (originally $400) on clearance for $150. On a lot of things I have no qualms about buying gently used, and the clearance rack is my best friend. For full priced items look at Dover Saddlery - Quality English Horse Tack & Horse Supplies for the Equestrian., HorseLoverZ Horse Supplies & Saddles, Horse Tack, Horse & Equine Supplies - Statelinetack.com, or Horse Supplies and Supplements to get ideas on price ranges. IMO, if you're not showing a lot or if you're growing there's no reason to spend a lot of money. Unless you want to.

The cost of a show horse is a completely different question. It all depends on the amount of training the horse has, the competitiveness of the horse, age, soundness, successful show history, where you're located, where the horse comes from (a horse from a big name trainer is going to cost more), etc. Our barn is a hunter/jumper show barn and the majority of the horses are around $15-35,000. The cheapest (fully trained show) horse is about $5,000 (he's actually worth a lot more, that's just what they paid), the most expensive is $150,000.
