Dressage: Good VS Evil

So I have always done very basic dressage work on my horses, but am in interested in starting to show my boy. I have been reading up and watching various high level dressage riders. Many people talk about the problem with riders at that level pushing horses past their point or horses being in pain and not actually collected/moving freely.

My question are what are some signs to look for so I can tell when a horse is actually preforming movement freely versus being forced into them. I know some basics (pinned ears, hyperflexion) that are bad, but want to learn more.

So anyone that can give me the good vs the bad for different movements or whatever would be my hero. Pictures and video would be great.

Go pick up the book "Tug of War: Classical Versus Modern Dressage" - it is an amazing read, and will explain everything you're asking about.

They are actually doing a clinic based off the author of that book in a bit. I plan on going but haven't been able to get ahold of it yet.
