The reason I'm hesitating is because I don't really know if I want to invest (or more so if I want my parents to invest) in an English saddle. What I like about Western saddles is you can relax in them and they support your lower back a bit more.
I was on the obstacle course the other day and I trotted over a pole on the ground and the horse jumped it xD It was so much fun-I have always been thinking about how I love jumping but then I fully realized it that day. I don't know if I should spend the money to get the English saddle or just jump bareback (I wouldn't be doing it all that often).

You could do what I did and be elcheapo. I bought both of my English saddles used :) If you're concerned about your parents investing in a new saddle for you, you could save up your money and buy one yourself. Always satisfying. I don't know where you're located, but there's always lots of people online looking to get ride of saddles and tack. Try ebay or kijiji.
