English/Western Pleasure

Hello...

Can a paint horse that's trained to do english/western pleasure do dressage? Do you think it would look silly?

My new horse does pleasure and theres a dressage show coming up in may and think that it would look silly for my horse do that. I might ride someone else who can frame up really nice and move forword more.

What do you think?

If you can get her to frame up I think it would be fine. I don't ride dressage though, I am going to event this year.

Any horse can be trained in dressage but not every horse can be competitive in dressage. If your horse is already doing HUS and WP then I'd say it's probably talented enough to take on the challenge. As for paints in the dressage arena, I'm not a dressage person so I don't know if there is a bias against them or not but a friend of mine competes in dressage (I don't know what level) but she has a few paints and seems to do well on them...

Unlike hunter judges, dressage judges seem to be unbias, but they can be MEAN sometimes, just downright rude.

Whatever you decide, just try and have fun.

I would think it wouldnt be a problem. I know a lady that showed HUS at the AQHA shows and now she's doing dressage with the same horse.
