Equitation..

Hey Everyone....I haven't been on here in a while..but wanted to share with you the improvement I have had in the past 2 months with my 15.3 OTTB he is now 17 and trained in both hunter and dressage. He does anything on command..In the past year he sat in a field for 9 months with no work. I have gotten back on him and am so proud of everything he does..Im going to be selling him soon to buy a 4-6 year old gelding OTTB..Let me know what you think! Judge both on me and the horse... Your hands are open, try keeping them closed, which will give you a more solid contact with his mouth. I think you need more release also. Cute horse! :)

Your EQ looks great IMO! I think your amount of release is appropriate because you seem fine and it doesnt look like your catching him in the mouth. If you were..more release would be appropriate but you look fine! Why fix something when it's not broken? (: GREAT leg position too! Love your horse.

Thank you! :) I grab ahold of the martingale when I jump...a little extra security..I hardly ever touch the reins...he doesn't mind how I have them..As for him..he is a phenomenal jumper..as you can see he has the perfect tuck..He is very honest and loves his job..:)

If you bring your crotch back more to over the center of the saddle it will bring your leg closer to the girth and then it will be alot better. Just let the horse make your motitions over the jump if that makes sense. Your back is flat which is really good, and you're looking up wich is good also :) But you seem to be pulling your head back into your shoulders. Your hands are fine, but if you don't need the support of the neck, then you need to move onto the auto release. Lowering your hand and following the horse's mouth, because a creast release is when you put your hands on the side of the neck for support, yours are hovering over the top of the neck. Read George Morris's article in Practical Horseman, he explains it best.

I show him in hunters 2'6 to 2'9 but at home am jumping him 3'3. He loves his job a little too much! He is such a great horse and has the personality of a puppy. He loves attention and will do anything to make you happy.

I personally like to see more of a relase but if you and your horse are more comftorable with it then its fine! Your positioning and eq. Look very natural, which I like to see instead of a forced 2 point. Your horse looks stunning! He looks bigger than a 15.3 (which is good!). Im also curious how much you think his asking price would be? Im not a serious buyer right now (because my horse inst sold yet) but i'm still curious!

I think your eq looks pretty solid...i wont repeat the same critiques, but if you hold on to the martingale for security you are not ready to start doing an auto release, but should be pressing your hands down on your horses neck.
