Well I started riding when I was 7, stopped when I was 16, I am now 18 and soon I will be starting again. I am taking my BHS exams, so I will be riding at least four times a week.

I know it's going to be tough going back into it that hard, but do you have any exercises or things I could do to help my body prepare?

Stomach crunches, leg lifts, squats, and running.

Running, stretching and core work.

Start with brisk walks building up to jogging and then running, remember to stretch afterwards to help improve your flexibility and to help to keep your muscles from feeling sore and tight.

Pilates and yoga are both excellent for strengthening your core, improving your overall strength and flexibility, and an overall evenness/straightness on both sides of your body. They also help you to become more aware of and in tune with your body. Pilates and yoga can be extremely beneficial to your riding.

Cardio, Stretching and strength- especially in our legs is what we mostly need as riders. I purchased a book on a bunch of exercises for riders and I definantly recommend getting one! Sorry- don't remember the name of it right now since I'm at school.
Here's a really good article though that might help you: How to Get Into Shape for Horseback Riding: 22 steps - wikiHow

:) Have fun!
