First lesson in two years tomorrow- yayyy

I have been dieing to take up lessons again since I moved a year ago. Well, its one of those things where I always feel like the money saved could be used elsewhere. So I knew, if I just took the plunge I would keep it up.

So I told my fiance I was going to treat myself to a lesson for my bday (Saturday) and he was sweet enough to offer to get me a few lessons as my bday present. I know this sounds lame to some people, but I literally danced around the house, and I'm 26!! Lol!

I am so excited. So... the lesson is tomorrow. I'm nervous but looking forward to it. I am going to ride Cooper this time (hes had a month off) and then Aidan the next. I have never taken lessons on my own horses. How cool!!

I am going to TRY to set up my camera for video, but no promises. That thing dies within 2 minutes! Maybe the hubby will come up and capture some of the fun. We shall see!!

How wonderful for you! I can totally understand the dancing around in happiness at any age

You're going to glean so much more information from the lessons, stuff you'll take with you in your future riding.

:( wow, so what a tease.

Im so bummed. My lesson was cancelled. The two other students in my area cancelled due to bad footing fromthe rain we've had and the trainer lives more than an hour from me. So we rescheduled for next week. I really want to be fine with this because if its taken me this long, another week wont kill me. But I am suuuuper bummed

So only a week late, but I finally got my riding lesson!! Whew, what a work out. Lots of 2 point, and she took my stirrups up a hole. I had just moved them down a month ago, lol! I am sore, and Im loving it. She asked me to commit to riding 3 x's a week and doing some ground work with Cooper. I'm very excited to have done this. She'll be back next week to work with us again.
We are teaching Cooper to side step and teaching me to get him moving off his backend when he dips his head.
Loving how patient and fun she was, and looking forward to bettering myself and my horses.

Question: Is it ok to switch my riding horse every other lesson? I'd like to ride Aidan next time.

Hard to say on switching horses. I can't always ride my own becuase my daughter rides him and also another teenager leases him part time (he's busy!). I think he and I progess together so well when I have several lessons in a row on him. But I also think I learn new things that can be applied to riding him, when I ride other horses.

Maybe you could do 2 lessons on 1, and then 2 lessons on the other? That way you have some consistency with each one? Check with the trainer ...

And, that's so awesome that your trainer has a sense of humor and you like her and all the logistics are working out! It's so hard to find a good teacher.

Have fun!
