G.C.S.E pe - horse riding?

Hey im taking gcse pe and I definitely want to use horse riding as one of my sports, but I just wanted to know if anyone here has done it and how there experience was?. Also can you ride either a jumping course or a dressage course of do you have to do both?. Oh and how long would it take to learn a half pirouette, turning on the forehand and rein back in walk? Those are really the only things I have to cover in order to be ready for the assesment. Thanks

Sorry to double post, but also what horse do you think I should be using, a horse which can jump (which will be my main event type thing ) or one that is better at dressage ( my weakest event) or more of an all rounder, I am thinking the all rounder and have thought about a couple of horses which I can use but I am still unsure any advice?
