Got my spurs today!

Hey everyone!

I just got spurs! I've never worn spurs before, so I'm excited to ride with them but a little nervous. They are 1/4 inch nubs. I also got brown leather straps, but on the way home I remembered that my tall boots that I use for shows are black! I guess I'll have to get another pair of straps when I show. My only worry is that I'll get left behind or something and accidentally poke him really hard. =/

Any last minute tips and tricks for riding with spurs? I'm riding with them on Wednesday!

Don't kick, only squeeze! I know I had a har time remembering I had spurs on at first, so really focus on never kicking with them on (at least unless really neccessary) Also focus on keeping your heels away from his side when he's good, you don't want to continually spur or you will have a very unhappy pony/horse. I ride with spurs too :) It does take a little getting used to. The horse I was riding before I had them was sooooo lazy and when I got them he was soo much better.
Just remember not to kick :)
