Help a beginner out!

I've been riding western for the past seven or eight years. I have done some time in an english saddle, and just this past summer I started taking lessons. I know little about riding english, but I know two-point, posting, and I've walked, trotted and cantered.
I'm looking forward to spending a summer in Wyoming continuing my english lessons. Can anyone help me by giving me more information? I'd really appreciate tips, pointers etc. I hope to start jumping by next year, so any advice would be awesome!

english really isnt that much different then western. I jumped for 3 years, and then went back to western gaming. haha

but you just really have to keep your heels down, and sit deep in on your seat, because there is nothing to grab if you feel insecure for whatever reason.

that's so fun! one of the most important thing with english riding is a secure base, especially if you hope to be jumping soon. so my advice would be do a lot of work with no stirrups- posting and when you feel secure two pointing. also work in two point with your stirrups will help you have a solid position, focusing on keeping your back flat, heels down and slightly turned out, and looking ahead on where you are going.

good luck and have fun!!!
