Love it - and thumbs up to you for saving him.

I have a tendency to give my horses a million nicknames anyway, so I never bothered changing their "real" name. The horse we have now, though, we have no idea what her name is/was so when we got her my daughter renamed her. We haven't had any major injuries, but she is the most clumsy/accident prone horse I have ever had and constantly finds new ways to give herself minor boo-boos -- I don't think that has anything to do with the name change, though.

We've practically changed all our horse's names. So far so good.

We change their names when they first come in, but if they are sold in the barn their names stay the same. For what it's worth...I have only ever known one "Skittles" my entire horsey career...and she was INCREDIBLE. =)

Haha, thanks everyone. Skittles is a cute name and all, but I just hate the candy and so I would hate calling my cute little Paint that. We'll see..

    I love me some Skittles

But... your horsey doesn't look like a "Skittles" to me. You know how some horses fit their names and others you're like "whaaaat?" I think Colby fits well.
