Point accumulations vary from discipline to discipline.
HUS is Hunter Under Saddle.
Equitation is judged on rider position, but at higher levels, is also judge on how well the rider rides the horse through a course etc. (more choices on an equitation course for striding, roll backs etc)
Points are accumulated by a
rider for equitation. Each placement earns them points. Those points are then multiplied by the amount of riders in attendance and are carried through the show season. Higher leveled shows usually place from the top eight to ten riders in divisions. For hunters, the points go with the
horse. The horse's placements accumulates points, multiplied by the number of horses in the class. Highest points win, usually the same--top eight to ten.
Points go as so forth:
1st place-7pts
2nd place-5 pts
3rd place-4pts
4thplace- 3pts
5th place- 2pts
6th place -1 pt
Then, take how many in each class. So, let's say you got a first out of ten riders. You'd earn 70pts. How that helps.
