With my new saddle!!
I rode in my new used Stubben Parzival dressage saddle, and I LOVE it! I haven't ridden in an English saddle for 3 years! It was fun! I did a little bit of trotting, and it was much easier to post the trot in an English saddle than a Western. I used a pad that the barn owners use on their racehorses for the exercise pad, and it slipped back a bit, but I'm ordering a proper dressage pad tomorrow :)
It felt a little weird at first, and I had to spend FOREVER adjusting my stirrups (I always do), and after I got used to it, I was great. I think one of the bigger differences was where the saddle placed my leg. I was having trouble with my leg positions because I was supposed to be putting my leg in position C, but I was only putting it in Position B. Something to work on next time I ride!
My friend, who used to ride English, rode in it and she said she liked it too. I didn't know how to run my stirrups up because the English barn I went to used Wintec Webbers, so she showed me
I used the exercise saddle girth and I am SO GLAD that it fit! I didn't want to have to wait and buy a new girth and not be able to use my saddle today :)
I'm just SO HAPPY that I get to ride in an English saddle! The flaps are a bit forward, so I may be able to do some jumping in it
Sorry for the long-winded excitement, I just really needed to share it with fellow horsey people!
PS- If you want to see the dissection of an English Saddle that was old and had a broken tree, visit my thread "Dissecting an English saddle". I haven't posted the pictures yet, but I will do it hopefully tonight!
