My daughter who is 8 is just beginning lessons. We do not own a horse and do not know whether we will be able to get one anytime soon. She went to a week long camp that taught hunt seat but the riding academy closer to our home only teaches saddle seat (no jumping) If she learns in saddle seat can she at some point in the future change to hunt seat? I only did hunt seat so Im unfamiliar with saddle seat.
thanks so much for your help
I don't have a lot of experience with saddle seat but I have taught students (to ride huntseat) who started there. There were some form issues they had to get over (same as those who started with western) but it isn't impossible to do! The most important thing is to find a good lesson barn with a good safe instructor who can teach her solid basics and horsemanship.
My friend rode saddle seat as a kid and moved to hunt seat after high school without too many problems. I agree with upnover. The most important thing for her age is to learn properly and safely.
