Need saddle fitting help *pic heavy*

I have a new horse (yah me!) and I'm just getting back into the sport after having my children and taking over 10 years off. Wow, it's a shock to the system.

Here's my 5 year old Morgan mare:

I haven't fitted a saddle to a horse is years, and I don't have anyone to come and look. Here's three of my old saddles that's I've put on her to get an idea of what I need to buy for her at the tack shop. I have no intention of using any of them, just want to bring a saddle with me when I go

#1 old jumping saddle:

#2 my old heavy all purpose (it's a brute!)

#3 ??? AP

Need some help with what I'm seeing, thanks in advance!

Very clearly to ME, number three is the ONLY one that comes near to fitting her. She is a bit mutton whithered and pretty flat behind the wither. Saddles that tend to fit a gaited horse type may be best for her. Not ones that fit a thbd type.

Stunning horse, too! Very nicely built.

Tiny, you don't think #3 might sit down on her spine once there's weight in that saddle? It's looks a little wide to me.

You just have to see your distance...you don't have to like it.

I have always wanted a Morgan! She's beautiful.

I agree saddle 3 is the best fitting of the three. The first two are too narrow.

I also agree the third one may be a little wide with a rider in the saddle, but it's better than the other two. You can see that the seat is level when it's on her back. The other two, the seat tilts backwards.

You can look up saddle fitting online and learn how to "trace" her whithers, and then bring that with you to the store. I would also bring the pics and saddle #3. And of course buy from a place with easy returns!

YOu could also consier a saddle with a changeable gullet (collegiate makes one, pessoa I think makes one, and Bates). I have the Collegiate, and I'm very happy with it. I also saw recently in Dover saddlery catalogue, one of the saddle makers has a whole new line of wide saddle with changeable plates. Might be something for you to look at too.

Have fun! I'm a post children returning to rider, too, and I LOVE it!

I actually think the first one seems to fit the best. The second one is way out of the question and the third one seems a tad too wide.
