New English boots

My grandma bought me a brand new pair of Ariat Heritage III Zip Paddock boots. I was going to wear them to the barn on Tuesday (I'll be at the barn the WHOLE day) but I was wondering if I need to wait and condition the leather with oil first. My dad mentioned it, but if I can't get the oil in time Im wearing my older boots to ride.

Probably best that you do treat the leather before wearing as you are not sure how long the leather has been sitting in the box for and started to dry out. Just condition the leather and then probably best to wear the boots in slowly to avoid any blisters or discomfort on your feet and legs, though a correctly fitting leather boot should feel comfortable from the start :) So bring your old boots with you in case you want to change :)

I've worn ariat boots for years and never pretreated them. The people at ariat do recommend using their brand boot polish regularly to keep them conditioned but like I said, I've never done it! The pair I currently have were the first to give me blisters though. I'd get a package of moleskins in case and like PP said, bring your old boots just in case you need to change into them.

Another who never bothers to precondition Ariats.

I've got 3 pairs on the go at the moment and just polish them as needs be.

I also have Ariats and I never pre-treated them before wearing them. And mine broke in pretty quickly too. Now before a show I clean and condition then and then I polish the living hell out of them but that's only before a show. Also, I never got blisters from my boots and my feet are usually pretty tender with new shoes.
