Racehorses (Thoroughbred vs. Appaloosa)

So I was wondering, could my 7 year old Appaloosa sprint racehorse beat a Thoroughbred racehorse in a sprint race or a longer race (like a 1.2 mile race)? fyi: my horse's top speed was recorded at 41.7 mph and he has a lot of endurance. Please post your opinion!
(reason why I was asking was because I was going to race a friend of mine's horse who is a 7 year old Thoroughbred gelding that still races.) No mean/rude comments please! I asked for people's opinion's for fun :) :gallop::gallop:

Top recorded speed for a racehorse over 2 furlongs (1/4 mile) was 43.97 m.p.h. Over a longer distance 1 1/2 miles the top speed was 37.82 m.p.h. These were achieved on race tracks with fit horses amd ridden by professional jockeys.

The variables are great, some horses like to race on soft ground and others firmer. The skill of the jockey in keeping the horse balanced and steady so it has something to finish with a burst of energy. The fitness of the horse. The distance the horses were bred to race over.
The terrain also plays a factor in whether it is a flat course or up/downhill (as many race courses are in the UK) the other factor is also the weight a horse carries.

You say your friend's horse still races so I'm assuming you mean he's in training so in racing condition, you say your Appy has stamina but that's not the same as being in a proper training program so fit and in racing condition - if he isn't then you need to be careful or you could end up damaging him
To get a real result both horses need to be at the same level of fitness, in the same training routine and carrying a similar weight

He is of similar weight to the Thoroughbred and has the same amount of training, both of your horses are in racing condition. Like I said in my first post my horse is a current racehorse (but sprint races, doesn't run anything over 1.2 miles). I also asked my friend with the TB and she said his top speed was 40 mph even and we would be racing on a turf track since that is the kind of track that they both race on mainly but both horses also run races that are on dirt. Actually, I think I will just go ahead and race the TB horse then just let you guys know who wins and by how many lengths! :) But we won't race till this coming Sunday since we are waiting for it to stop raining and dry up a bit.

I've recently purchased a horse that was meant to run in the grand national last year he has unbeatable record times at many tracks in the U.K winnings of
£90k I thought my Arab would put run him but I was wrong. (I don't race these boys) if you want something that's quick a thoroughbred or a quarter horse is the one for you. But saying all that it depends on the horse not all thoroughbreds are fast nor Arabs

Steeplechasers are not the fad est by any means, they have way more stamina than flat bred horses generally speaking. There are exceptions where sprint bred horses have gone on, after a non to successful career on the flat, to be great jump racers.

Interested to know the name of your TB.
