    Saddle brand reccomendations.

I'm thinking about getting an english saddle in the near future. There's a collegiate on e-bay that I've got my eye on lol. It's very similar to the one I rode in while I was taking lessons. And it's a really good deal.

Do you guys have any opinions/ suggestions on what brands I should be looking for? I'll probably go for a used since I'm not looking to spend more than $400 or so.

What's going to be the biggest bang for my buck so to speak?

You're going to have to give us more detail about what you want to do to get a good recommendation.

Are you going to be jumping? Showing hunters and jumpers? Trail riding? Any interest in dressage? Will you be taking lessons?

Do you know if you prefer an AP type or a close contact?

In general, Collegiates are a good solid middle of the road choice, and a good value for the money. I've never been madly in love with one, but I've never hated one either.

Yeah, I'm mostly just looking for a decent pleasure saddle. I'll mostly be doing flat work maybe a few small jumps later on (only if I get back into lessons it's been a while). I'll probably swap out to my stock saddle for trails.

I should probably wait till I've actually gotten a horse though. I don't want to wind up with one that doesn't fit at all.

I like collegiate saddles, they are a good saddle for the price. You could also look at older stubbens and crosbys, usually you can find a really good deal on one of those.

However, I would wait until you have a horse as all horses are made differently, and you may be safer looking at a used tack store for saddles. I learned the hard way that it is much easier to spend the extra money at a tack store and be able to trial and actually see the saddle before you buy.
