    Saddle too big!

I just began leasing a paint gelding named Jackson. I use his owner's tack. The jump saddle is waaay too big for me and so are the stirrups. It makes it look like I'm "swimming" in the saddle because it's giant for me. Also, my position for canter and jumping looks ratchet because of it. Eek.

Anyways, I am planning on doing my first show with him August 17th. Problem is, I feel and look so awkward on him because of the saddle. If my parents and I were loaded with money (sadly we aren't lol) than I could just go out and buy a saddle. But since we aren't, I don't know what to do!!

Should I go show with him, or use that show money to buy a used saddle instead and not show?

Also, if you know anywhere online or something where I could get a used kids saddle for under $450, please do tell!

If you are going to be leasing this pony, it would be very wise for you to go ahead and buy a used saddle to fit both you and your pony. Who knows, maybe it will fit your next lease pony! And if it doesn't? Buy a good reputable saddle brand and keep it in good condition. Resell if it doesn't fit your next horse/pony.

Honestly, there are PLENTY of decent saddles on eBay for under $450, you aren't going to find a brand new one-but there are quite a few that are in great condition for your budget.

What size do you need? I'll look for ya and post some links.

In the mean time until you DO find a saddle you could always get yourself a pair of shorter stirrup leathers to use until you find a saddle...they're not super expensive and that way you can always transfer them over to your new saddle and that way you are not incredibly unconformable in the current saddle you are riding in. Just an idea.
