So we made it... First show.

So my "badly conformed, useless for anything but trail riding, never will be able to show" little qh made it to her (and my) first show ever this Sun. I signed for Intro B and C (was very hesitant about C because we just started working on canter, BUT my trainer was very encouraging to give it a try).

Unfortunately since I've never been at the show I messed up with timing (braiding in morning, cloth change, etc.) and had just 10 mins of warm-up (only 5 mins of trot) before Intro B. Definitely not enough so I knew we are both not quite ready when I entered. Was OK though - not bad and not great either, she didn't go round much (expected) but accepted the bit and was trying.

However Intro C was a pleasant surprise (I had about 30 mins for warm-up between the tests). She was trying hard for me in arena: quiet, consistent, and nice canter departure on correct lead both time (which I didn't even hold my breath about when I entered). We got lots of praise from judge after we finish (and it was well-deserved by the horse I have to say).

So here is a video to the beginning of Intro C (I was hoping to get the whole test taped, but mom screwed the focus/distance on camera and wasn't able to get it back ):

And here are some pics from Intro B (yes, yes, I know the flaws for those also discussed it with the judge).

OMG! LOOK A YOU! Do my eyes decieve me *rubs eyes* that you are wearing tall boots?!?!?!? lol. I think they suit you very well :P

You look fantastic! Congrats on your huge improvements and where you've come since you started riding with the new Coach. You two look great, regardless of how un-prepared you felt you were! Be proud of your accomplishments!

Thanks so much, MIE! Jemma (my qh) surprised me quite a lot! I was very nervous (I'm becoming a nerve wreck very easily) and was very afraid she'll feed up from me, but she stayed calm and helped me to calm down. That was pretty amazing.

Yes, tall boots are VERY comfy. I believe they are similar to what you talked about while back (they are Mt Horse brand). I WISH I could afford a pair for every day riding!

Fabulous....just fabulous!!

I know I never said your horse didn't have the conformation or ability to do dressage. I am a firm believer that all it takes to do dressage is HEART. I have shown many a QH up to higher levels. They had the heart to overcome any obstacles.

You two look wonderful and I suspect we will be able to watch a great partnership evolve between you two.

Now, you have started something and you must follow through. We need updates on EVERY show, with lots of video (Train you MOM!!) and photos.

Yay, congrats to you and your horse! (About the QH/badly conformed thing, don't listen to them! I made it up to 2nd level so far with my mediocre grade QH mare. )

I know how it is to have little warm-up. I accidentally ran behind at my show a couple weeks ago and had 15 minutes to warm up before a 1st level test on a horse who was only showing 1st for the second time. Whoops!

Are you planning to show some more?

P.S. What's your horse's name?

Yay KV and woohoo Jemma! Way to go girls! You keep on showing them what little QH's with big hearts are all about
