Sports to help Horseback riding??!!

Hey Everyone!
I want to start a new sport that will help me improve my riding, it's not bad but I think it would help me to become better. I ride 6 days a week but that's not enough, I'm the type of person who likes to excel quickly. I'm thinking a sport that has leg strength, balance, and stamina in it would be great. Does anyone have ideas of a good sport like this??
Thanks!!!

I can't pick your sport. Understand that it takes years to develop your riding and years to develop your horse. I never realized that my horses (1st herd), who were also my lesson horses, were ridden over 1,000 hours every year for the 10 years that I taught lessons. They were bombproof and babysitters, but ready to race around when we took them to CW Events, including the National ones.
Don't think that this is a competition and that your enthusiasm will allow you to proficiency out of the work, like in college.
Search online and find out what's fun, then pursue it. =D

Yes, I know it takes a long time to develope everything, I'm not new to riding. But I'm an active person anyway, so I was just seeing if there is anyone who enjoys a certain sport that also benefits horseback riding. I don't think its a competition either, Ihave fun with it! And believe me, I'm not the type of gal to want to get out of work/ do it the easy way, I love challenges!! :)

I'm not entirely sure that it would have helped in my riding (despite giving me added leg strength and a good pair of lungs), but I played soccer for seven years and absolutely adored it. I only recently stopped playing, due to wanting more time to ride actually, but I cannot say enough how grateful I am to have played! If you really want to find something, I'd say most sports could be beneficial in some way; go for something you're interested in!

Thanks SemsLegit, that's true that it takes time away from riding! I also played soccer for 8 years :)

The best way to improve your riding is to ride more... but even the Olympic team goes to the gym to work other parts of their body. I think they do a combination of weight training and cardio. I"ve recently started running and noticed that it's improved my riding. I know other people who do pilates and other things that work your core strength and legs.

Yoga/Pilates is great to build your balance and strengthen your core.

The OP is asking for non riding sports that will help improve joints and muscles used in riding
I always found that cycling is a great sport for leg muscles - and a cheap way to get from A to B as well!!
Rowing is good for upper body strength
If you can't get to actually do these things then its something that you can simulate by using Gym equipment especially in the long winter months
