spring is coming !

I finally got to go on a trail ride with no snow yesterday !!

The trails were too muddy to ride on, but I rode down the road to our hay field which is really steep and gets manure/shavings spread on it all winter. The footing was great out there, I even got to gallop a bit =D

My mare was super sassy because she hasnt been ridden outside for months [nothing above a walk down the driveway] I always make her ride behind the other horses and she never just gets to follow, she has to wait for me to tell her to go. Well that was not part of her plan yesterday ! She kept squealing so loud and wanting to buck and run off toward the other horse [who was cantering away from her while she was halted or walking] she listened after I told her no and was very good though =] everytime but the last time started with a squeal though !

Anyone else get to start trail riding yet ?

I have been trail riding since the end of February. Yeah, there was snow, but that doesn't stop me.

A groupd of us moved barns, back to where we were origionally - the large Eventing/Fox Hunting facility so we now have access to alllllllll those trails on 200 acres of land. How can we resist? :P

We have nice trails and a lot of them but we arent allowed to use them in the winter. It was really icy this year and we have to go up a huge hill to get to any of the trails. The BO wont let us go up there in the winter because last year someone was leading her horse over the ice and fell. Before she could get up her horse spooked and fell on top of her. Her pelvis was shattered and she had to have 7 or 8 surgeries, with still more to come. It was really scary and no one wants it to happen again

I was pretty lucky, think there was only one or two occurences when I couldn't go out on the trails because of snow & ice! But since I don't have my own horse, I was happy just to get a lesson.

:) I love living in the south..I took my horse SWIMMING yesterday..Yes, it's that great here..this weekend's highs are in the 80s..LOVE IT..

Swimming?? Wow! It's been pretty warm here, but probably not warm enough to do that!

I haven't been able to trail ride yet... but I HAVE been shedding clumps off the horses! That's usually a sign for spring to me. Coming home covered in hair. :)

Shedding is always fun ! Haha

No shedding yet though, every other horse on the property is shedding except my mare ! She's plenty dirty though =P

Can you feel it? Need me a horse to ride!!
