starting a new riding club

I live in a area that does not have any type of English riding clubs. All the shows in this area are western only schooling shows. We have to drive at least 2 hours to get to a schooling show. There are a number of English riding stables in the area. I don't know if there are enough to start a riding club of one specific type like hunter jumper, or dressage. I was thinking of starting a riding club were we have schooling shows and clinics in dressage, hunter jumper and cross country. I have talked to a number of people and they all say yes we need something like that. I just don't think anyone has made the effort to make it happen.

Any suggestions or advice? Also, any ideas for a name? We are in the ozark mountains in the central part of Missouri and I want it to express that we are about all the English riding disciplines.

A startup can be a pretty daunting feat. I might start with the barn managers at the various barns in your target area and enlist their support. I might also put an ad in Craig's List looking for membership.

You will need to enlist the help of at least one barn where you can organize a show, periodic meeting, training seminars, schooling, etc. There must be a compelling advantage to the barn to help sponsor it.
