Stupid Question... Probably (Hunter/Jumper vs Hunter vs Jumper)

This might be better directed towards my instructor, but what's the difference between a hunter seat, a jumper seat, and a hunter/jumper seat? The place where I ride says "hunter/jumper and eventing". What the heck is going on right now? There are two forums, one for jumping and one for hunting. And what's the difference between dressage and eventing? I've only been riding for 5 months or so. Maybe someone can just run me through the different English disciplines.

I've been doing posting trot, sitting trot, cantering, and a "jumping position" where I stick my butt in the air, and some small jumps where I need to do that position.

Wait is that video real (hip hop dressage)? How does he get the horse to do that? That's awesome.

I don't get the different between show jumping and the hunter thing. I've been doing jumps but I don't get which one it is. They look the same.

Hunt seat equitation is judged on your riding, I rode hunt seat and didn't like it, you can see in the video on how polished it looks.

Show Jumping is judged on time and faults, like knocking rails, refusals, etc. You can see in the video how they are riding at a faster pace.

That video is real I do very low level Dressage, that video is at a very very high level. It is so hard, but so much fun when you do it:) Its all about your cues, like you cue to canter, you would cue to do a whatever he does in the video.

The hip hop dressage video is not totally real. It's edited. The horse never actually went backward and the test wasnt ridden to that gross "song".

Anyhow, that's cool. I wish I could get the horse I ride to do that. Lol.
