That's probably a dumb question, but... How many of you ride and show in same tall boots? I did get a pair in consignment store on X-mas and tried them yesterday (decided it's time to break them in), and loved riding in tall boots (surprisingly enough I don't really need to break them in, and they are new). However getting a separate pair for showing only is way too expensive (this pair was not very cheap either even though it was consignment store). So would it be OK to use them for shows and every day riding, or it's a better idea to save them for shows only and keep riding in my short paddock boots?
Very good question, as I have been wondering about this myself. I got and spent a small fortune on a pair of Ariats and don't know if I should take advantage of them or keep them more for shows. I intend to ride a bit in them when it's dry and hot out, but just don't know how often I should. :/
Yes, no question on riding in mud - too expensive (I got Mt Horse boots BTW). But they keep leg in very good position and very tight. I didn't hold my breath (the only reason I got them because of the shows), but I was very surprised!
If it doesn't rain this weekend I think I'll got try them out for the first time. They've been rotting in my closet ever since I got them (besides the occasional walk in them to break em in a little). I never rode in tall boots so I am going to see what the big deal is all about lol. ;)
I rode in mine every single day through college and wore holes in them in the calves and ankles and that was just in a ring. I now ride in my tall boots for shows and paces and then any clinics here otherwise I ride in half chaps usually around the farm just to hack and school. My boots as long as I clean them hold up pretty well and when we hunter pace it's pretty intense through water and mud and good hard riding and galloping and everything.
I wear my tall boots all the time unless all my riding pants are dirty. I've never had a problem, and they always clean up nice for shows. What I try to do is wear like muck boots until im about to get on to save them.
