Hmm... The barn I show at takes five minutes to get there and five minutes to get back...

...I leave at 7:55 a.m. So I can get there at 8:00.

I wait for about two hours but it depends on what class i'm in.

The actual class is about 1 1/2 hours long.

So after my class it is approximately 11:30 a.m. I stay for 3 1/2 more hours, and so when I leave it is 3:00 pm.

I do the 5 minute drive home as I was saying earlier...

That brings us to a grand total of 7 hours and 10 minutes!!!

( Please correct me if I did my math wrong :) )

Luckily, I have my horses at home, so I can save on the "driving to the yard" part. Today, we started preparing for the show at 9:30, bathed, plaited, etc. Loaded and boxed out at 12:00, arrived at the show at 12:30. Collected numbers etc, watched the class before mine. Went into the arena at 13:30, all finished by 14:00 (In-hand - not much to do). Back at home, and unplaited etc by 15:00. Total 5.5 hours

I have been at shows from Tuesday at noon to Sunday at 3pm. A one day show would probably take 12+ hrs for me, but I mostly do shows over 4-5 days.

Usually the show starts around 7am so from 7am till 5:30pm when we dismount and load-up to go home. Unless it's an overnight show or something however that appears to be the average time frame.

Green Broke
Believe it or not I spend at least 12 hours from the minute I leave my house to the minute I get home.

Wow. Well, it really all depends on the show.

I've been to Hunters shows where we leave the barn at 5am with horses and riders, and don't get home until 9pm or 10pm because that is how big the show was.

Events... well quite obviously normally if it is a good distance away we will get hotel rooms, and stay the weekend. That is pretty self explanatory.

In the summer when we do the local Hunter/Jumper shows, we leave around 5am and then we're back around 6pm or so. They seem to go faster, because places are able to use both indoor & outdoor rings in the summer for classes. In the winter, at shows, everything is in one ring indoors. It makes for a very long show day.

We usually arrive at a show around 8:30am, unload, set-up, tack, warm-up for a start around 9am. The official part of the show finishes around 5:00-5:30pm, but then there's mounted games under lights in the dressage arena(s) like bareback jumping and pony club games for the younger riders. Everything wraps up about 7:30-8pm.

Local shows, before I rode western aswell.
Get there at like 8 leave the farm at like 7:30.
Then usually back at the farm by like 1 or two so
Max like 6 hours.
Now with western we don't get home till 3/4 so that adds a few extra hours.

Arab shows usually 3-4 days
Regionals like 5 days
That doesn't include prep days and unpack days.
We generally stay at the fair grounds.
If we have morning class can be out at the stalls as early as 6 or 7
And often don't get back in trailer till like 10 or 11. Those are long days.
Driving wise, this year I think our longest haul will be like 2 hours. Unless we go to armstrong that's like 6.
Don't think i'm showing stateside this year, drives there are like 5-8 hours.

Local shows are quick! Arab shows take days xD
