My instructor doesn't have "lesson horses" per se. She gives lessons on her Andalusians when the student:
- isn't a boarder
- doesn't have a horse
- won't haul their horse to her
- won't pay for her to come to their horse
- isn't ready to ride their own horse for whatever reason*
*I fall under this category. I'm a decent rider, but I was trained in H/J. My horse is being trained as a dressage prospect. As a Thoroughbred, I'm sure he wouldn't appreciate my taught-tense form. I'm learning how to be loose and relaxed on a horse (dressage stirrups go for miles...so used to short H/J stirrups). I personally am having a little trouble with tension in my right ankle due to an old injury. My ankle can't rotate properly to stay toes-in and heel-down...sigh.
