My instructor doesn't have "lesson horses" per se. She gives lessons on her Andalusians when the student:
    - isn't a boarder
    - doesn't have a horse
    - won't haul their horse to her
    - won't pay for her to come to their horse
    - isn't ready to ride their own horse for whatever reason*

*I fall under this category. I'm a decent rider, but I was trained in H/J. My horse is being trained as a dressage prospect. As a Thoroughbred, I'm sure he wouldn't appreciate my taught-tense form. I'm learning how to be loose and relaxed on a horse (dressage stirrups go for used to short H/J stirrups). I personally am having a little trouble with tension in my right ankle due to an old injury. My ankle can't rotate properly to stay toes-in and heel-down...sigh.

Woooo! So I drove for 3.5 hours today, dragging my poor husband and 1 yr old son along (love you boys!) to the dressage trainer with Friesians.
    Here's a pic

I had a wonderful time and learned a lot. I'll be working on things with the western horses I have available until the next time I get to make the trek out to her place. I am hooked on dressage though and I want to continue studying it! She was definitely worth the drive!

    That's great!!

My trainer doesn't have any lesson horses. Around here most barns have no problem with outside trainers so she will travel to you and your horse or you can trailer to her place. She has tons and tons of local contacts so if for some reason you are horseless, she will try and arrange a suitable horse for you to lease, rent/borrow for lessons or so on. I've had lessons on a couple different borrowed horses when mine was out with an injury.
