Oh, sorry for the confusion.

I had not thought you meant once per week. You said you were going to be lunging him this winter to get him all in shape so I figured you were going to be working him many times per week, not just once.

Haha, thats okay!
I would lunge him once a week, and ride him twice a week. :)

If he is running out to the left , make sure you are making him now your left leg is really on him, and I'd do lots of work on that rein. Yes, doing some lunging would help conditon him, but not too much. Flat is your best friend! Good luck!
