Default We made the switch!

This is minor, but I'm excited :) Spree's owner has been riding her in Western tack, and a-It's not the style I like riding in, and b-she's got lovely gaits that I think are better suited to English riding. Last night I decided it was time to try her in English tack, so I got out the saddle that was left in the tack room by her owner's friend. It's an old AP saddle, oiled to death, but it fits Spree ok. I'm not crazy about the saddle pad-it's too thin and old and ratty. I want to get a nicer English headstall too, because her bridle looks English save there not being a noseband.

Honestly, I think from a completely aesthetic standpoint, she just looked better in English tack. I lunged her in the saddle first and she had no adverse reaction to it, and when I hopped on, she was great! Actually maybe even more responsive than normal, because my seat was closer to her back. I personally feel more in secure riding in English tack (weird, I know), so I felt like a more confident rider. The saddle itself is rather uncomfortable on my booty, so I'm going to start shopping around for one of my own. I'm just excited to have my girl decked out this way, and soon we can start working on her collection.
