western blanket with english saddle

I know some stuff about english riding and I've rode in it once before at my friends house but I just bought my first english saddle and I've rode in it a few times but I want to make sure that I can continue using my western saddle blanket, not pad, with my english saddle until I can get an english pad, I've read that the thicker the pad the worse it is for the horses back under an english saddle and my blanket is very thin, I used it twice under my english saddle and I've checked after the ride and made sure that my horses back wasnt sore and it wasnt. Is it safe for me to keep using the western blanket under my english saddle for now until I get an english pad???

You don't want a thick pad, but if it's thinner than 1/2" i'd use it. I even used a pony roper pad on my Arab, "Corporal." (1982-1009, RIP) bc the saddle fit better on him that way.

If the pad isn't too thick and the saddle fits well, I think it would be fine. Does your saddle fit properly? More importnantly, do you know how to fit an english saddle?

it it's a "Navajo" type thickness (like less than 1/2 inch) it should be fine.

In fact, if the pad is thin, even folding it once should not be a problem. I kind of depends on how the English saddle fits. If it's a very close fit, then thick blankets worsen the fit. It it's on the wide side, then a thicker blanket is acceptable. Not that a really overly wide saddle is acceptable in the first place.
