I love all of the Tredstep half chaps. They sell leather, suede, as well as synthetic. Huge size/price range, and very durable.

I have Ariat leather half chaps. They are amazing! Now I can't ride with suede chaps, it isn't the same! I've been using them for some 2 years now, they are going strong and you can use saddle soap to clean them. I definitely recommend them.

I love my Ariat half-chaps. I think they're the close contact ones. I haven't seen Ariat's half-chaps in brown, however...

As for helmets, definitely go to a store and have a knowledgeable employee fit them for you. I originally wanted to purchase a Charles Owen, which didn't fit, not did the GPA (thanks goodness, I wouldn't have been able to afford it). I ended up with an IRH that I love.

Another devotee of the Ariat half chaps - LOVE mine - in fact I ride my best in my paddock boots and half chaps...I still am trying to break in my show boots to where I ride well in them.

Yet another going for the ariats! Love mine, hold up well, EASY to button and unbutton, pretty and SO COMFY.
