Question what size breeches to get

Ok I'm totally confused as to what size to get. I have one pair of riding tights that I bought at a store. I don't remember what size they are (not written on the tights anywhere) but I DO know that I tried on SEVERAL pairs before I found these that fit right. I got a gift certificate to state line tack for christmas and I want to order some breeches since I only have the one pair of tights. I can't decide if I should order a regular or long??? I read the inseam on the regulars is 31" which, when I hold a tape measure on myself there it seems plenty long. But I wear a 'long' in jeans sizes. I'm 5'9. I read somewhere that if you are over 5'7 you should order a long...but when I hold the tape measure at 33 1/2 which is what they say the 'long' inseam is, it goes to the floor! HELP!!!!

I would get the regular length. Breeches don't have to go all the way down to your ankles anyway. Wearing half chaps or tall boots will make it irrelevant whether your breeches are too long or too short. :)

There should be the how-to measure the size. But usually you measure the waist if they are waist high breeches or your hips if they are lo-rise. I'm 5'6" 124lbs and I got the longs and they fit me perfectly but it could be a different brand. Also a few years back I got size 30s when I was around 145lbs which are WAY too big for me, but I prefer them a little loose so there isn't too much tug.

Good luck! I'd try a few on in a nearby tack store just to make sure before ordering online!

P.S: Also the more cotton, the more likely they are to shrink a bit. This can be a good or bad thing..!

Well I ordered two pairs, different brands, both in the 'regular' size. They were both long enough but the one pair - on course kempton full seat breeches - they don't fight 'right' They are snug on the calf and baggy on the upper leg which makes them bunch around the knee too and that would be so uncomfortable to try to ride in so I'm returning those. The other pair are Irideon power stretch breeches...OMG they are SOOO comfortable. I went with those because the one pair of riding tights I have are Irideon so I thought I stood a good chance with the fit although I didn't know if I was a 'medium' or 'large' I went with medium and they fit good although I'm worried they might shrink after I wash them. So I have to return the first pair and I can't decide what to 'try' next. Should I just go with another pair of the Irideon Power stretch? Does anyone have any other 'brand' they like?
