I went to Rolex this year! And I'm going to WEG this year too! So excited!

Rolex was fantastic this year. Only one serious injury.

It will be on TV on May 15th

yeah that was Kingpin with Mike Winter aboard. Apparently Mike was beating the horse all the way to the jump even though there was clearly something wrong with him wayyyy beforehand. I lost all my respect for him after that.

No one died this year, and only one got hurt enough to be checked into the hospital

Yeah.
That's not what the people told me. No one knew the horse would just die as he took off over the jump =/
Something was wrong with King pin :(
Poor boy he was a beautiful horse. I am sure Mike smith felt bad after that. I doubt he was beating his own horse.

NBC advertised Rolex just before the Kentucky Derby, so I'm guessing NBC.

You just have to see your distance...you don't have to like it.

Just a correction:

Mike Smith= jockey

Mike Winter = Olympic level eventer

;D

Anyways, what I heard from my trainer and a woman that really knows horses is that you could visibly see Kingpin start to shut down about 200 feet before the jump. Mike whips him to the jump, and he dies right after the jump. However, I do take into account that NO one could have known what was going on. But he should have known something wasn't right. From what I've heard, Kingpin didn't just suck back before jumps. There was definitely something wrong.

So yes, Mike did whip him before the jump to get him there. There's no doubt about that.

Oh my bad. Got the last name wrong.

But what ever. All I heard was he fell over a jump and died I didn't hear of anyone saying that mike winter whipped him.

You are correct he should have known something was wrong. There is no doubt on that.

I didn't see it happen but if I was there I would know something was wrong. I mean I know horses and I know when something isn't right when a horse starts to shut down.

To see the wind's power, the rain's cleansing, and the sun's radiant life, one need only to look at the horse.
