wow my boy can do that?! (lots of pics)

My neighbor is letting me use her outdoor arena once or twice a week and it is turning out to be a really great help!

We started off just walking and he was being lazy, there were a few 'pony club' kicks as we went past the gate, but after a while... we got going quite well.

We did some trot/ canter poles, was ok apart from straightness :P

Started a bit of jumping (cross pole a few times)

Lateral work, this was the best bit! I just tried asking him for things like leg yield and rein back and he did them. We did leg yield, shoulder in and travers... in canter! (also walk and trot), can't believe he can do all these things... especially as I have has him since October last year and have never tried them before, so he was a bit rusty. Only thing we need to work on is extended and collected trot. His canter also needs a bit of work in general (he struggles with his left canter lead due to injury)

Anyway here are the pictures...

First jump, bit ahead of him and my dad was a bit quick with the picture... :P
(he was for most of them btw...

That's better :)
Ok there are NO good pics of me jumping any bigger...

And some flat

And a funny one for good measure, he didnt run out, I circled him over the pole and he jumped over it! To my surprise!

Yay! Seems like we think we know our horses, but how well......?

By the way, a chair seat is sort of how it looks, when you ride with your lower legs forward, from the side it looks like you're sitting in a chair and not on a horse. It usually comes from an insecure seat.
