Yay!*hugs horse*

Tonight/Today, I had my 5th lesson on Al. We're already walking, sitting trotting, posting, and cantering.Today, we did some spiraling in/spriraling out at the posting trot and canter.And I felt "it". Al and I became one tonight.I stopped thinking bout my body and what to do with it and just flowed with Al.It was awesome!My face hurts from smiling so much.Al collected good for me and responded good to leg yields today.We are finally a team and it feels so awesome!Sorry I just had to share how I felt. =)

Ha! There must be something in the air today. I was about to post a similar success. I've been working with my OTTB for the past two months trying to get him more connected. No matter what I tried, he would never quite soften and come through his back. Today, I made a big time effort to ride correctly, sit upright, shoulders open, legs and arms relaxed, and contact supple and inviting. After a 30 minutes warmup, I asked for him to connect and boom! I got a big collected floaty trot out of him both directions. We circled a few times, called it a day, lots of pats, a nice walk in the woods to cool down and I'm still thinking about it 6 hours later. Don't you love days like these?
