Yoga on Horseback
I recently took my first yoga on horseback lesson. What an eye opening experience that was. I cannot say how many barriers it crashed through in terms of identifying position problems. We did it mostly in half seat position. I'm thinking what it actually does is let muscles that were in a constant state of contraction actually relax for a change, since I started out with my heels up and ended up with them sunken like they've never been before. I couldn't resist hopping onto my own horse afterward and taking my new found half seat out for a test ride. We did a few jumps and, instead of collapsing over the fences as usual, my upper body stayed dead quiet!! Anybody who is having a problem with jumping ahead, legs flopping around, or sitting the trot, take a yoga on horseback lesson. It's the best lesson money I've spent yet.
You just have to see your distance...you don't have to like it.
