Groom Work

Hey there everyone, I'm deadset on getting a job in the equine industry and for personal reasons I really cannot imagine myself doing anything but this. I'm aware of the hard work, experience and dedication required to be successful but I'll do anything.

I was wondering how difficult it is to get a job as a groom, it wouldn't be my first choice in the industry, but I'm very much open to the idea. How much experience would a typical employer desire? (I'm currently searching for a working student/apprenticeship program, but I'm not even out of high school yet, so I have time.)

How close to graduation are you? We are looking for working students and if you are old enough and your parents would allow it, you could come for a summer internship and return home to finish school...

Green Broke
Depends on what type of grooming you want to do? Most will include stall cleaning and such?

Some barns have stall people, so you would just be grooming.

And if you have experience with hunters/Saddlebreds, TB's, or stock horses, those jobs may require traveling with barn to shows?

Just go talk to several different barns in your area.

Sorry, I totally would if I lived in Florida, but I'm in Oregon. ;c

& I'd be willing to do anything, really, as well as traveling to shows and such.
