I need some new career ideas (having second thoughts...)

Well, I was going for veterinary, but I think I'm having second thoughts. I may still go for it, but I also realized that I have no backup plan. What are some careers that deal with horses, dogs, or both? Thanks!

You could do vet tech (I know a number of my vet classmates have done that), training of either species, nutrition, chiropractic/massage/acupuncture, you could always be a lab technician who runs the x-rays or mri's. Just a few ideas. :)

Thanks.

I actually came up with an idea on my own after I started this. I'm very interested in psychology and disabilities, so I was thinking about either being an equine assisted therapist or a therapeutic riding instructor.

I think you should aim for therapy dogs and then hit the horses next since that one will have a ton of start up costs.

It won't be so expensive if I work for an established company, like Equest in Wylie TX, before going out on my own.

I really think I'm going to go for it. Texas Tech has a division of the animal science degree that focuses on equine assisted therapy.

If you're actively interested in this you could start by volunteering at therapeutic riding programs to learn how it all works and whether you're up for it or not.
You should also check out PATH Intl. - that's the company all therapy barns and instructors needs to go through for their certification.

That's my plan. I checked PATH'intl, and there are two centers nearby, ManeGait in Mckinney, and Equest in Wylie.
