400+ entries at a 2 day?

Does this seem...excessive to anyone? When my trainer ran her 3 day she always said she didn't like taking more than 300. When she took 300 cross country went from morning til dark. 400 on a 2 day event???? They have BN through intermediate. I'm still not sure how they plan to do this. It's probably going to be a disaster! They aren't usually the most well-organized to begin with either. And they sent an email to everyone on their list saying they still need volunteers for all positions.. The show is THIS weekend!! Does this seem like too much to anyone else? How many do the events around you take? Im taking my greenie BN and am afraid I will be riding in the dark or something!

geeze all I can say is I hope they have lots of parking...

The event I went to I think had around 200 riders, maybe there planning on running some XC on day 1....

Here if you enter an event you need to provide a helper or else pay an extra $80, I much prefer to get some one to help

it's not unusual honestly. Especially in area VIII. The Team Challenge that I was in in October had around 400 competitors and it all worked out fine!

though, it was at Kentucky Horse Park and they are equipped for that kind of thing

I agree with Drew, that many entries isn't really out of the ordinary. Even 1 days here have 100+ entries, most of the time they have to devide each level into 4 or 5 groups to accomodate all the entries.

BN A
BN B
BN C
BN D

N A
N B
N C
N D

etc, etc, etc, - you get the idea.

The first HT of the season, all the Hotels that were advertised to take in the Eventers, were booked up. Many had to stay in tents and campers on the grounds.

Heck, Richland Park in my area, has levels from N to 3* - and that is a 3 day, imagine the #'s who enter that comp. That place is crammed packed, loud, busy as a bee's hive throughout the whole comp.

Eventing is pretty big now :)

I know of an open show that had 350 halter entries alone on a ONE day. All together there was about 635 entries for a one day horse show! It went from 7 in the morning until 8 at night! It was about 3$ a class and it was a very friendly atmosphere.

I agree. The guy who put on the show is a very well known trainer so I assume his "people" told their people, and so on.

There are usually multiple rings in dressage going on at once, so it's not like one person has to judge ALL those people!
