Mbender, the jumps are actualy designed to minimise the risk to the horse.
There is a Vet inspection the day after the XC to ensure the horses are fit to continue, 56 horses out of 58 (those who didnt retire or get eliminated XC) passed with flying colours.
No horses were immediately failed. 2 went into the hold box where they are examined in more detail and both retired thier horses. Mind you I watched the horse inspection and couldnt tell that either horse was lame so it was very very slight.

Who was the dark bay that fell over the gate slid along the ground and rolled onto the rider? That looked agonising!!
Was there any pull outs of the big names after cross country I didnt see
Karen o'connor took a fall at the outlander bank and her horse has broken a rib.

Oliver Townend fell at the quarry.

I think the dark bay at the gate was Ingrid Klimke. Her horse was fine, she has damaged her knee.

Elizabeth powers was airlifted after a fall at the sunken road. Her horse is fine, last I heard she had a head injury.

I believe Ruth Edge's horse took a blow on a narrow corner I think and pulled up lame.

Wow. Just to see the height of those jumps! Holy macaroni! Don't know anything about it but I'd freak out! Still looks exciting though! A head injury on a rider and a broken rib on a horse, hmmm not thinking I'd do it.

Refusal at the water

2nd refusal, horse got both legs over the jump and then decided not to get its feet wet.

Awesome pictures faye! I am thrilled you got to be there in person - I think Badminton is tougher than Rolex to be honest.

Makes me drool!

In the showjumping my seat was 2nd row in so during the parade of cometitors I could have touched the horses! Was brilliant.

Wow. Faye, I would have liked to see that. Very interesting jumps. These horses really get those feet up tight to make these jumps. Dang! Keep up the pics if you have more!
