Burghley 2011!

I can't believe there are no posts about this yet!

This weekend is one of my favorite out of the whole year; Burghley CCI****! The US went into it with 6 riders (Boyd Martin, Sinead Halpin, Colleen Rutledge, Jules Stiller, Michael Pollard, Will Coleman) and we now have 4 riders still competing.

Will withdrew before the dressage; in the warm up Twizzel was just feeling off. Michael Pollard had a sticky fall in the XC after Icarus pulled a shoe on course and slid into a jump.

Right now Boyd is in 11th after the XC (double clean!) and Sinead is in 12th (one of my favorite US riders, she's come so far!) having had 4.8 time on XC.

You can watch video of all the riders at www.burghley.tv FOR FREE, so I highly recommend it!

The top 4 riders going into tomorrow are;
1. William Fox-Pitt on Parklane Hawk (the woman that sold this horse to his current owner is the owner of one of Mogie's current rides, kinda cool little connection)
2. Andrew Nicholson on Avebury
3. Caroline Powell on Lenamore (last year's winning pair!)
4. Mary King on King's Temptress (Rolex 2011 winners)

It's going to be a fight right down to the wire tomorrow! Can't wait!

Mine too!
And imho it's easily the biggest track you can run. Cottesmore Leap is ridiculously huge! But Mark Phillips set it up so nicely for success! Right off of a short turn that basically balances the horse for you, all you need to do is maintain the balance, see the distance, and go! So many of the riders even got it off a half stride and it still rode well!

And omg the Leaf Pit is ridiuclous. About 85% of the horses came off that insane drop on all 4 feet, but the ones that just poured off of it down to that narrow triple brush made it look so effortless!

Yeah what a massive drop that was! I didn't realise how big those steps up were either, I watched some footage of them walking the course before with Fox-Pitt and they were massssiiivvve! I would love to have pointed my mare at them, she would have just gone "no thanks"

I've been looking for it too... change the link to .tv instead of .tc and it'll work.
