Demi's first XC schooling of the year!

Hey guys!

So I just go back from Demi and I's first XC schooling of 2010! We went to a park we know fairly well... come to find out they have completely changed the course! So it was kind of nerve wracking to jump new courses (same jumps, different configuration).

I was REALLY tense at first. Demi had gotten off the trailer kind of "up" so it made me nervous. I always get this irrational fear on XC. It's something I have to overcome and let go of. I feel like since Demi is smaller, she can't jump as well. Which is totally false! She's a great jumper but I'm a control freak and I have trouble letting go of her face.

My trainer, Jamie, helped me work through it and by the time we got to the water complex Demi and I were really connecting.

We are going to attempt (if all goes according to plan) the horse trials here in July at Beginner Novice!

Oh and don't worry... My vest WAS under my jacket

Here are some pics to enjoy!

Lookin' good! And may I just say I am SOOOOO jealous you went out xc! Our ground is still way too icky and muddy. I am dying to get out there again!!!
Your mare is adorable!! It's funny how much jump some of these smaller horses have - the mare in my avatar, TJ, was about 15.3 and could have jumped 5' from a standstill. Phyllis always said she would have been a world-beater if she hadn't had a career-limiting injury.

Thank you very much! Demi is 15.2hh (she surely does not know that!). I'm hoping to take her at least training then breed her.

We have had a couple schoolings already this year but I was working and/or they got rained out. So this was the first one we were actually able to attend!

So... that pic where she is trotting through the water.... did you see her tongue?! Hahaha she does that all the time!

Please, 15.2hh is not small!

You two look absolutely fantabulous together and congrats on your first successful CC Schooling day! You both should have NO problem doing BN for your first event!

Super excited for you! Job well done and congrats!

Well compared to my behemoth aka Uma, 15.2hh is quite small ;D

And thank you for the compliments. I am super proud of her right now!

You look like you had a lot of fun!
I'm super jealous. I haven't even seen a cross country course in the 2 years that Willie was recovering, and I probably won't see one until I get another horse. :( Have fun at your event though! You two will do awesome!

Thank you Strange!

I had a really hard time accepting the fact that I wouldn't be able to event my old mare again. It was great to be able to get back into it.

I'm hoping we will do well in July!
