Denny Emerson's Jingle Bells

Most of you have probably already seen this, but just in case...

The Eventer's Version of Jingle Bells
Dashing ‘cross the course,
Nearly lost my reins,
O’er the jumps we go,
Gasping all the way!
One bell boot’s a miss,
We gave the crowd a fright,
But what fun it is to ride and think
We’re jumping at this height!
Riding fast, riding clear,
Riding all the way!
Oh what fun it is to ride
The cross-country course today.
Hey!
T’was just a day ago,
Our dressage went alright,
Aside from the bucking show,
And turning left not right.
Kept popping flying changes,
Whether we needed them or not,
But we made up for all these things
With a blinding medium trot!
Riding fast, riding clear,
Riding all the way!
Oh what fun it is to ride
The cross-country course today.
Hey!
One more day to go,
Must face the showjump course.
All those fancy poles,
Hope i’ll have a careful horse.
When the pressure’s on,
You’ve got to find the lines,
And be sure to keep your leg and wits,
To jump clear, under time!
Riding fast, riding clear,
Riding all the way!
Oh what fun it is to ride
The cross-country course today.
Hey!
Now the ground’s a blur,
Go it while you’re young,
Hear the thundering hooves,
And sing this eventing song.
Just get a gutsy bay,
One with scope and speed,
Don’t muck up on dressage day
And crack! You’ll take the lead!
Riding fast, riding clear,
Riding all the way!
Oh what fun it is to ride
The cross-country course today.
Hey!
Riding fast, riding clear,
Riding all the way.
Oh what fun it is to ride
The cross country course today.
HEY!
