Ok, so dressage was GREAT! We got a 30!!!!!!!!!!! Every individual score in the test was a seven. Every. Single. One. Even the little bottom ones for position and suppleness. We were in third (there was a tie for first) but there's a great story behind my test lol. Ok so we're doing Novice test B, where you do a trot circle at A and then canter between A and K for your right lead and do your canter circle between B and E. So I'm aproching B, right? Out of the corner of my eye I see this horse, coming towards us. This horse's rider fell off, the girth snapped, and the saddle flew into the fence RIGHT by our ring! (There's four rings inside a padock). Luckily the judge told me to stop in the middle of the test and stand or walk until they caught the horse (I asked if I could speak to Geof, etc. to calm him down because he spooked pretty bad) and then we just picked my test back up after that, lol. She let me pick up from the canter departure. So yeah... quite interesting.

Ok, so Stadium. We had a pretty bad warm up, went into the ring, he was backing off the first jump, so I reached back and cropped him at the last stride, lost my right rein over the jump, so I'm aproching the second (it was like a six stride related distance) without a right rein and he jumped that one fine (he got a HUGE good boy lol!) and we jump the third fine, get a stop at the fourth (it was a spooky sign jump) and then I got him over it, the fifth was a square oxer (probs maxed) and I sorta caught him in the mouth on the backside, he stoped at the sixth, got him over, it was three stride to the seventh and he just stoped there, so we were eliminated :( and that's my novel.

Awww crappers. Great job on your dressage though! That's big! The best I got this season was a 34% - so 30% is exceptional!

You rode Stadium before CC? Do you have videos? I'd like to see them if you do!

So what do you think happened during stadium to of ended up with the result you got?

RATS! Sounds like a possible case of nerves that translated to the horse. Danggit!.

They won't let you ride XC hors de concours? Too bad if they don't.

Did that scarey sign jump have a STOP sign on it? I only ask because once (a long time ago) I was riding for a new coach. He had us jumping this big coop that had a red stop sign on one side, and a green "go" sign on the other. The jump was pretty much the same on both sides, except for the signs. He had us jumping the "go" side and none of us had any problems. Then, he had us turn and jump the "stop" side and EVERY one of us had a refusal the first time. This was done on purpose to show us how what we read...we think...and what we think....we communicate....what we communicate....the horse does. It was a truly valuable lesson I have never forgotten.
