Rolex was AMAZING this year!! I really enjoyed watching everyone go XC but poor Oliver =[ A person that saw it said that he really should have died after the horse fell on him like that. I had great seats (media box!) for stadium and most rounds were fantastic. There was a long time where only the last place rider had a clean roumd but luckily it started to pick up. Kims horse had a stop and then just fell apart unfortunately. Will really deserved this win as he looked great and he lead from beginning to end!
I was just looking at pics PH magazine posted on facebook - why do the horses all have 2 ribbons? William FP has 2 champs, Phillip & Woodburn have a champ & reserve, Becky has a reserve & third. I know they came in 1, 2 & 3. But what are the other ones for?
Phillip would also have gotten a championship ribbon for being the highest placed American. Like StormyBlues said, the top twelve or something get ribbons - blue, red, yellow, so on and so forth. Then the winner gets a champion ribbon, and the highest placed American and second highest placed get Champion and Reserve, respectively.
I was at the jog and it was SUPER sad when Ballinakill Glory got rejected. They held several horses including The Foreman, Woodburn and Madison Park. None of which were actually lame, they just took some funky steps in the jog and needed to be re-inspected. Ballinakill Glory (Kelly Prather's horse) didn't look lame the first time, but he was noticeably lame the second time. She knew though, and was very gracious about it.
This definitely wasn't Kelly's year - I was very disappointed for her. Hopefully, however, she'll use this as a learning experience for next year - she's gotten her feet wet now, and I would love to see her come back and put in three solid trips next year. She deserves that.
