This past weekend my six year old OTTB Ari and I competed in a local schooling show! We did a starter derby and a BN derby. So fun! Jumping's really her strong suit, so we've been practicing our dressage A LOT. It's also improved our control in jumping which is a definite bonus. We were in 2nd out of nine after our BN A dressage test. She was clear in both the stadium and corss country portions of the derby. I was a little surprised when I walked the cross country portion how big the jumps were. We've schooled cross country at a few different parks, but these were a lot more substantial than what I was used to. We were fourth out of eight after our BN B dressage test. We had a very smooth clear jumping round! Yay! I used to lease a tb who was a chronic refuser, which zapped my confidence for a little while. I got into the habit of really urging with my seat to the base of the jump, which is not needed with her. She has yet to face a jump she hasn't wanted to jump. So we got a red and a white ribbon. We are going to do a BN trial at the same farm in October and then plan to do some recognized shows next season! Hopefully I can get the videos uploaded as well and I will provide the link for the professional pictures once they are up!
