so excited!

Kay so I'm riding cross country for the first time in a while this afternoon and I'm so nervous but literally buzzing, I'm that excited! I'll probably try to ride the whole course not just one or two of the jumps, and shall see if I can get the friend I'm going with to take some photos.

SOOO can't wait. It's a good 3 1/2 hours before I can leave yet though!

Ohh, we're just training down at the local pony club - no competition or anything. YET. Our first competition is on the first weekend in March, doing E grade (maximum height of 18 inches and VERY basic wtc dressage - because of my nerves and newness to eventing, not the height we're jumping or anything like that) and I can't wait. I've nearly got all my gear together, I just have to get myself a long sleeved shirt for cross country and a nice shirt/tie to wear under my jacket for dressage and jumping.

So stay tuned for photos and a hopefully glowing review of my horse LOL - here's hoping that this kimblewick does the job and keeps his forward under control!
waresbear and mudpie like this.

Be safe and have fun

I definitely will have fun! Safe... umm... LOL I need to not be worrying about that at the moment, my confidence is kind of low. Only in the past week or two have I been confident enough to jump him much, or canter more than a circle each direction!

Well we've been and are back again. It was BRILLIANT to have some eyes on the ground, my friend pointed out that when Monty was being looky it was because I was looking at the jump and freaking out about it. We didn't have much in the way of controlled trot but when I let him canter it was beautiful. So calm and confident into the fences and we did try a couple of "scary" ones including one that was right on the transition from light into shadow.

No photos unfortunately but will be back there again tomorrow (the course closes on the 28th to eliminate home ground advantages for the upcoming event and we want to get as much training done as possible before then) and will have eyes on the ground again as I'm under 18 therefore not allowed on the grounds without an adult, so will hopefully get some pics then.

Glad you had a good time! Over the past few months I have been training in eventing, and it is a lot of fun... both the dressage and of course the jumping. ;)

We never took the camera :/

But, we made some big progress in my confidence with Monty, we jumped all the E grade jumps and most of the D grade, plus one of the C grade jumps that was absolutely terrifying (a trakehner jump, they scare me) - AND he was mostly well behaved out on course. Of course we had some fruitloop moments, he's just one of those horses, but all in all we had a great time all 3 times we went, and I feel so ready for the first event of the season...

...and the entry forms are out now!

Good luck at your event!!

My entries are in and I'm terrified now lol.

It's only 18 inches, which is NOTHING, but I've never evented before. Honestly I wish I'd just stuck with showjumping because my confidence is SO much higher in the jumper ring. Just jumped a lovely big spread today which I'll put back up and measure tomorrow, but I'm guessing it was at least 3' high... not sure how wide.
