Team Challenge

hey guys,

I was wondering if anyone here had experience or knows someone who has competed in a team challenge format horse trial. I will be competing at the Hagyard Midsouth Team Challenge on Demi this October and I was wondering how different it was than a regular horse trial. My trainer wanted me to compete on the BN team she is taking and I sort of just agreed without knowing what I was getting myself into

Are we all in the same division or are we in separate divisions?
Do we ribbon as a team and individually?

Any info on ANY team challenge would be most helpful!

Thanks!

Ps... watch for Nancy Drew (Demi) in the entry list for Midsouth in late october and Javah (Uma) in Octoberfest the following weekend!

I have :)

You all run your horsetrial like usual and ribbon individually. In addition to being in the BN division you'll be in a team division (forget how this one works - I was doing Novice, but there were BN riders & 1 elementary rider on my team, too...)

Then the show staff averages out everybody's final scores by team and ribbons the team divisions.

I've finished 5th and 1st individually before and both times my team finished 2nd. So, it really depends on how EVERYBODY does.

I did! But, then again - I always enjoy shows :)
It's fun and something different and the team ribbons I got were BIG, lol ;)

I didn't do a "team challenge", per say. It was a horse trial at Full Moon Farm that had optional team divisions, since there were so many of us going we went ahead and signed up for them.

Although I did a quick google search and got this for your show:
Quote:
Each of the team members, either 3 or 4 riders, will ride dressage at the same time in adjacent rings (which comprise the individual divisions), and then will jump both XC and show jumping in consecutive order. So, no team may have a rider on two or more horses.
... so a little different

oh wow didn't know that's the way it worked! Shows you how much research I put into it before I entered. HA!

Thanks for the info! It has been most helpful.

My trainer is competing on a former Training level horse who always wins the dressage. So that's going to be helpful. Haha. And the other lady who is competing is a really experienced rider also. So I'll be the greenhorn to Team Challenges!
